What Are You Working For?

Updated: Apr 10, 2020

Woman working and being stressed

How many of you remember what you’re working for?

More often than not I find people think they are working simply to live. You know, pay the bills, cover college costs for the children, go on vacation, pay for the weddings, etc.

We forgot (because we weren’t told) to prepare for retirement.

Or, if we were told anything, we were told to just take advantage of what your employer offers. Therefore, we go through life thinking we are preparing for retirement because we are utilizing the benefits at work. Or even worse, thinking that Social Security will take care of our retirement needs.

Unless you know how to calculate what your financial situation will look like when you retire, you could be in trouble!

Sit down with a Financial Consultant to help you to understand what you need to do to properly prepare for retirement. Stop following your friends' plans for retirement. Their lifestyle is totally different from yours and what works for them may not work for you. (and I often think friends don't reveal their true financial situation – good and bad – to their friends.)

Understand your numbers and plan accordingly. Let Swain Consulting help you!
