If you hire people from one of the ten categories that face significant barriers to unemployment, you could be eligible for a tax credit from the Federal government.
Why does the government do this? The main goal of WOTC is to enable these groups to become economically self sufficient and become tax-payers themselves, and to reward employers for reducing the costs of social programs.
